About Us
Richard has full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). He was recently an Assistant Principal in a secondary school where he was the Head of Key Stage 4. He has 14 years experience of pastoral care in schools, working closely with children and their parents. Darcy has 12 years Hairdressing experience and has run her own salon. She is fully qualified to teach and assess Hairdressing qualifications up to level 3.
Darcy’s passion for this Academy is a result of her own experience in school, in which Darcy struggled in mainstream lessons herself. She was however, extremely successful in the Hairdressing course which she completed whilst in year 11. This has given her the chance to have a very successful career in Hairdressing, and also in mentoring young people to achieve their goals. She would like to help improve the lives of our students, in the same way she was supported in school.
Our Program
Find Your Roots Hair Academy was founded to provide students with an alternative pathway to success through practical skill development in hairdressing. Our goal is to empower students who face challenges in traditional school environments by offering them the tools and support they need to succeed.

City & Guilds Hairdressing Courses
Find Your Roots Hair Academy is a City & Guilds Approved Teaching Centre.
We offer the following courses for students aged 14 to 16:
Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (3001)
3001-01 Entry Level 3 Certificate in an introduction the Hair and Beauty sector (please note we currently exclusively teach the Hairdressing units and not the beauty units)
Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (3001) Level 01-02
3001-02 Level One Certificate and Diploma in an introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector.
Hairdressing (3002)
3002-24 Level 2 Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing
Hairdressing (3002)
3002-34 Level 3 Certificate in Hairdressing
We also offer a Non-Qualification Pathway for students who prefer a less formal approach. On this pathway we teach Hairdressing Skills and Techniques but without the City & Guilds certificate. This pathway can be used as an introduction for younger Secondary School children.
